Hilton project to add Home2 Suites Hotel to McCandless Crossing

Already home to the area's newest Lowe's and LA Fitness, McCandless Crossing on McKnight Road soon will be home for a Home2 Suites Hotel by Hilton.

According to Bob McGurk, project manager for the North Carolina-based AdVenture Development LLC, "Home2 Suites is such a new Hilton project that there are only three or four of them currently in the country."

McCandless council Monday approved the land development application for the new hotel on Duncan Avenue in McCandless Crossing West, across McKnight from Lowe's.

This is part of the final phase of development for a proposed town center, which will bring a variety of business and residential opportunities to the neighborhood, which straddles both sides of McKnight.

In addition to the new hotel, a movie theater, grocery store, bookstore, child-care facility and up to 10 restaurants will coexist with an office complex and townhouses.

Completion of the town center has been estimated to be three to four years from now.

Mr. McGurk said the all-suite extended-stay hotel chain will offer 119 rooms. Construction likely will begin before the end of the year.

Also during the meeting, council President Robert Powers reminded residents that the township's new automated trash and recycling program will begin Monday.
